What is the gateway supported by playSMS can have much higher throughput?

we are using kind of this gateway:

the only interesting thing was having “AT- Befehle nach ETSI-Standard (GSM 07.05 und 07.07)”. didn’t care for chipset etc. we use it via tcp/ip (gateway has integrated serial ↔ tcp/ip converter).
